Online Streaming Act: Bill C-11 – Tech giants declare their opposition to the bill.
"The Courage To Speak The Truth Is A Virtue!
"The fear of what disaster Bill C 11 will bring to Canadians has gone beyond the people and is now being felt by the tech giants and social media platforms with large followership in the country. Recently, the executives of YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify began urging the Senate to slow the due process concerning Bill C 11. However, I believe they should have instead sought a total scrape of the bill but we will look into the issues behind their stance on the legislation and anything that is remotely connected.
"The Digital Media Association released a report where the statement for the Senate to slow the process was made. The words in the report said, “We urge this committee to pause. “Together these services connect millions of fans across Canada and around the world with tens of millions of songs and podcasts providing unique listening experiences. Bill C 11 attempts to impose a system of regulation that is designed for traditional broadcasters onto streaming services.” I believe the Digital Media Association now sees what it is that Canadians and channels like this one know will happen if the Bill is passed while Trudeau is still prime minister.
"This man has shown on various occasions how much of a tyrant he is and I am without doubt that he would further impose his authority on the people if Bill C 11 is passed. The DMA knows that the services rendered by these music streaming platforms will ebb away with the introduction of the bill because Trudeau would use the excuse of wanting to promote local content to ban anything foreign and displeasing to him. At the time the bill was still in the House of Commons, the Liberals brought up the reason as wanting to promote Canadian culture and heritage. Now you can imagine what will happen if the Liberals get the power that the bill will surely give them if passed into law."
