The Great Reset: Cross-border wholesale CBDC payments testing was completed with success.
"We've now tested that solution in a sandbox environment with 18 central and commercial banks. Participants express strong support for the solution's continued development, noting that it enabled seamless exchange of CBDCs, even those built on different platforms."
The testing used Quorum and Corda blockchain networks during the 12-week collaborative period. A total of 4,736 transactions were processed by participants between the two blockchain networks, and between Corda and a fiat currency.
In the sandbox, it was Kaleido blockchain technology that facilitated the two independent simulated national CBDC networks with a central bank and commercial banks operating nodes on the network.
Kaleido developed this for Swift to enables their new CBDC sandbox with broad industry participation and to help defined the future of CBDCs in cross-border payments.
"This sandbox demonstrates that CBDC-initiated cross-border payments can plug into Swift's enhanced platform exactly as real-time gross settlement payments do."
Back in November 2018, Kaleido selected Chainlink to provide Oracle Services for the blockchain Business Cloud.
This pilot testing was a collaboration by the New York Fed and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to establish connectivity across multiple heterogeneous simulated currency ledgers, aims to significantly reduce settlement risk, a key pain join in cross-border cross-currency transactions.
Note: CBDCs around the world may end up using cryptocurrency technology but that doesn't mean the cryptocurrency industry will continue to exist thereafter.
Note: Singapore is very involved in the Great Reset Agenda 2030.
