The Great Reset: 'The mother of all reforms' – Italy PM throws a curve ball at EU.
Paris and Rome are discussing alternatives to Ursula von der Leyen as the top EU job. Mario Draghi's name has been raised as possible commission chief. Draghi was the prime minister of Italy before Giorgia Meloni won the last election. He is the former head of the European Central Bank, a member of the World Economic Forum, and has declared that EU must become a 'single megastate'.
Meanwhile, Meloni vows a ban on technocrat-led governments as part of a constitutional reform to directly elect Italy's premier in a bid to make governments last. In the upcoming European Union Parliamentary Election, while the right-wing populists could gain control of the EU Parliament for the first time, Meloni throws he hat in the ring for the June elections.
"We want to create a majority that brings together the centre-right forces and send the left into the opposition even in the EU. It's a difficult undertaking, but it's possible, and we must try."
