The Great Narrative: Big Brother's watching you – Zuckerberg's Whatsapp private data leak to government.

"This is about the latest exposé. Another conspiracy theory has now been confirmed as fact. We have all these communication tools, all the social media platforms, networks and everything else. Whatsapp, before 2014 was independent, was proud that they had an encryption and they didn't really allow anybody including government from getting access to your message. It was private data compared to other platforms where FBI or MI5 could get in touch and ask for the data.… At this point considering Whatsapp is part of Meta is not really a surprising matter, it's not really shocking but is really disgusting that we are now hearing that there's a vulnerable situation and in terms of the system itself, our private data can actually be accessed.

"An internal Whatsapp report revealed a vulnerability allowing governments to track users messaged, despite end-to-end encryption.… The vulnerability relied on 'traffic analysis,' a technique monitoring internet traffic to infer who communicated with whom and when."

Note: Mark Zuckerberg is a Young Global Leader graduate in 2009. Meta is a strategic partner of the World Economic Forum.
