"This proximal origins paper, it came out of essentially a cover up operation in the very early days of the pandemic. What you saw [in the] FOIA emails have revealed that Tony Fauci, Francis Collins and Jeremy Farrar, who is the head of the Wellcome Trust, organized essentially a cover up of the idea of a lab-leak in January, February of 2020. They organized the top virologists who were involved. Peter Daszak is a man who's the head of a group called EcoHealth Alliance. EcoHealth Alliance is a grantee of the National Institute of Health (NIH) and they worked closely with Wuhan Institute of Virology to conduct these kinds of dangerous experiments…

"The top people in these scientific institutions that have control over scientific journals which are not the independent bodies it turns out that we expect them to be. They use that power to create the illusion of consensus that the lab leak idea could not possibly be right, that it was jumped from a pangolin or something to humans in a wet market.… In modern society the role of science is essentially as an arbiter of truth. They essentially hijack that role to cover their dangerous decisions they've made previously.

"It's so destructive that it absolutely cries out for a fundamentally restructuring of how we do science, how we fund science and [how] we think about the oversight of science. It needs a basic democratization because what we have now is a small number of people can do tremendously destructive things to the whole world."
