Food For Thought: Why in Alaska? – Who is the big winner of the Alaska Summit?

"Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have met in Alaska and have discussed the war in Ukraine and future cooperation between the US and Russia. The two leaders have held a press conference after the Summit in Alaska and both of them seemed happy with the outcome. After the summit has concluded, Donald Trump has called the NATO leaders, the EU leaders and Zelensky and have had a lengthy conversation. Zelensky is now expected to travel to Washington to meet Donald Trump on Monday. The EU leaders have issued a joint statement regarding the statement in Alaska. The next step will probably be a trilateral meeting between Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Zelensky, potentially in Moscow."

"Let's not forget that under the Biden Administration, the United States, just like Europe, has stopped all communication with Moscow. And I remember, throughout every single year of this war, many people were asking, myself included, is there any communication with Russia and the United States, at least behind the scenes, through back channels? Nobody could give a straight answer to that question. And if nobody can give you a straight answer to that question, what that means is that we are living through very dangerous times. Russia and US, they are both nuclear powers.… 'You cannot have two global nuclear powers not communicating with each other." That is the very definition of dangerous."
