The Great Narrative: Identification vs. bank numbers – Which is worse in an online data breached or hacked?
This is the biggest threat that is happening in the digital security space, for examples the online age verification, and digital ID, which are being introduced al over the world. The misconception is that there is an official organized government body, or on behalf of the government that is either government owned or regulated that is managing the data for these ID and verification checks. This is simply not the case. All our data is being managed by third party companies. When there is a data breach which is worse? Having your bank numbers compromised or having your identification stolen?
"With the government now introducing digital ID on top of the online safety act, we are walking into a world where identification systems just being used to verify age can actually be a data breach of pretty much the entirety of the UK's passport information, national insurance numbers, driving license data, employment records, HMRC data, all being leaked. This problem is absolutely monumental."
