All of the people of India were forced to take this money to the bank and try to exchange it for the new notes. But plot twist. There wasn't enough new notes for all of this demand that came from the 86% of currency being wiped out. And this led them [to open bank accounts and deposit their unless banknotes and] transition into the digital ID being rolled out in India. Although digital ID is not mandatory, but it is mandatory for linking to government subsidies." This is how you get the poorer people in the heavily cash based societies into bank accounts and digital ID and soon CBDCs. Similar situation in Thailand and Nigeria.
