Weapon of Truth: Attempts to redefine 'Canadian content' – Need to defend the state media during election.
"Decades, Canada's media system was built to protect Canadian voices through regulation, funding, and control. But with the advent of the internet and more voices joined the realm of online broadcasting and mass distribution, the companies that once claimed to want to protect Canadian voices now seem to be operating out of self-preservation. We have documents that show how Canada's broadcasting system was structured and protected in 2014 and then an acknowledgement that the CBC [Canadian Broadcasting Corp, state funded entity] needed to defend its existence in the face of potential defunding ahead of the 2025 election.
"These same documents show active lobbying of the CRTC, where Canada's largest broadcaster was trying to stack the deck in its favour in the face of increasing online competition from everyday Canadians. The real question is who gets left out?"
