@linda–carol: "In 1992, a woman and her family escaped Russia and came here to US. She was a computer programmer. He was a Doctor. Their family of 4 was provided a one bedroom apartment in Moscow. When they came, they didn’t bring clothes in the two suitcases they were allowed for their family. They brought books and art work. They had been told that freedom kept Americans so wild that we had no culture. She was shocked by how good things were here in America. She became my co-worker. The oppression her family suffered was unfathomable to my American mind. They had to obtain permission for everything."
