Private Investigation: Carney and Brookfield – How Mark Carney never really stepped down from Brookfield when he became PM. (Part 1)

"Brookfield Corporation, Brookfield Asset Management are essentially the trunk here of this tree. This is where Carney holds all his shares and deferred compensation. Okay, keep that in mind. The 2000 companies are the branches of this tree. There are over 2000 branches and the screen only covered 103 of those branches. Remember, you don't even really need to name the branches to benefit from this tree. When the branches do well, the trunk gets stronger. When the trunk gets stronger, the tree gets stronger. The branches do really well and the leaves blossom. When Brookfield is doing good, Carney's value goes up. The problem is it's not the 103 names that we should all be focused on for his conflict. It's the entire bloody trunk of 2000 companies that belong to Brookfield Asset Management and Brookfield Corp. This trunk or platform benefits every single time the federal government writes a check for a sector that Brookfield works in. Are you starting to see it now?"

"I uncovered that Carney's ethics screen lists only 103 companies while Brookfield controls roughly 2,000 entities worldwide. The Conflict of Interest Act, Section 2.1.a, excludes decisions of general application, letting him sit in cabinet meetings on 'clean energy sector' deals that can benefit Brookfield.

"North River Midstream lobbied Carney on April 30 2025, and on May 6 2025 he met Brookfield Infrastructure CEO Justin Beber. Those meetings happened just weeks after he became prime minister.

"The screen is administered by Marc-André Blanchard and Michael Sabia, yet neither received the full list of assets in Carney's blind trust, so they can't flag indirect Brookfield holdings."

Carney's $50B Brookfield fund failed – So he ran for prime minister of Canada. (Part 2)

"Our ethics commissioner, who sounds incidentally like a Swiss bond villain, Conrad von Finkenstein, he testified in December of last year and I quote, 'It is clear Mr. Carney's future compensation is tied to the success of Brookfield.'… So basically what we have is a prime minister whose future bonus pay, potentially in the tens of millions of dollars, is tied to a fund whose assets nobody surveilling him can fully identify. And our weak ass law says, 'Sure, why not?'"

"Carney pitched a $50 billion Maple Fund in September 2024 while still chair of Brookfield and simultaneously advising Justin Trudeau. It never took [off]. So he ran to become PM. My research has led me to conclude he ran in order to re-orient and shift the policies he advocated for but could not seal with Trudeau.

"The plan called for $36 billion from Canada's largest pension funds, $10 billion from the federal government and $4 billion from Brookfield itself. Carney became Prime Minister on April 28 2025, three months after resigning from Brookfield on January 16 2025. Within weeks his government announced $2 billion for small modular reactors, $925 million for AI data centres, and a $13 billion Build Canada Homes program – the exact sectors Brookfield already owns and operates in conspicuously at a high level through subsidiary corporations.

"Ethics commissioner Konrad von Finckenstein testified in December 2025 that Carney's future compensation is tied to Brookfield's success and that the Conflict of Interest Act permits it. Even the clerk of the Privy Council, Michael Sabia, held Brookfield shares and sold them once the ethics commissioner told him he owned them."

@MidnightStorms: "Pierre [Poilievre} has said several times, to keep ethics honest a politician that needs to disclose their conflicts of interest needs to sell his/her assets that cause the conflict of interest… Carney can’t make a decent deal with Trump because of his conflicts of interests, 91% of them are in the US… unfortunately we were not told until well after the election [in March 2025] that Carney had over 500 conflicts of interest… He lied twice saying he had everything taken care of and only had real estate…"

Note: Over 90% of Brookfield investments is in the United States and is tied to the US economy. This is why Mark Carney can never go along with any tariff negotiation with the US government that affects Canada. Brookfield is a World Economic Forum partner.
